Ukrainian Hub Aberdeen is a charity organisation relying on volunteers and a team of trustees to coordinate and organise all the activities.  We work closely with various departments at the Aberdeen City Council, other third sector organisations, and other partners.

Meet our board

Our board features tireless volunteers, each bringing times, skills, and passion to the smooth running of organisation.

Valeriia Robins

Chair

Valeriia Robins is the co-founder of the Hub. She came from Donetsk, Ukraine to Aberdeen in 2013. An architect and art teacher, she is currently on maternity leave. As the Chair, Valeriia oversees all the activities of the Hub. She also helps with the day to day administrative work of the Ukrainian School.

Daria Shapovalova

Secretary

Daria is a co-founder of the Hub. She is a law lecturer at the University in Aberdeen. Originally from Crimea, Daria settled in Aberdeen 10 years ago. She is active in the city’s third sector, particular inn climate and community participation causes. At the Hub, Daria supports policy development and stakeholder engagement.

Inna McLeod

Treasurer

Inna McLeod is an invaluable member of the team who has been volunteering at the Hub from its early days. She assists with finance and accounting, but also spends a lot of time on Sundays helping with the School.

Olesya Boyd

School support

Olesya Boyd, originally from Khmelnytskiy, Ukraine, has lived in the UK for over 20 years. She works at the Aberdeen City Council as EYP and helps translate for Ukrainian families at schools and nurseries. Olesya has been volunteering at the Hub since its early days and primarily works with children at the School.

Mariya Bradley

School support

Mariya Bradley was born in Kyiv and has lived in Scotland since 2003. She is one of the co-founders of the Hub and originally ran adult English classes alongside her husband. She now supports the Sunday school as a volunteer on reception and has worked alongside Aberdeen City Council to support integration of Ukrainian pupils into local schools.
